On September 12, 25 senior officials from nine countries including Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, Morocco, Guinea Bissau, Zambia, Tunisia, Jordan and Guinea, participating in the “UN Seminar on China’s Practices for Sustainable Development”, paid a visit to Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT). Lu Renquan, Vice President, met with the visiting delegation. Both sides held in depth exchanges covering development experience, technological applications and international cooperation in artificial intelligence.
The delegation first toured the Institute of Intelligent Decision Making and Cooperative Control at GDUT. Then they visited the Intelligent Healthcare Innovation Technology Center, the Land Air Cooperative Intelligence Laboratory, the Robot Virtual Real Simulation Technology Laboratory, the Autonomous Robotics Technology Laboratory, the Marine Intelligent Unmanned Systems Laboratory, and the Cross domain Unmanned System Cluster Control Technology Laboratory. During the tour, the seminar participants learned about the technical principles and application scenarios of intelligent equipment such as intelligent medical robots, smart wheelchairs for the elderly and people with disabilities, manned drones, aerial operable aircraft, amphibious variable structure drones and unmanned boats. They spoke highly of the university’s research strength and achievements transformation capacity in artificial intelligence and robotics.
Later, the delegation visited GDUT Innovation Valley, a national level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice base, to learn about the university’s practices and outcomes in innovation entrepreneurship education, achievement incubation and industry university research collaborative innovation. Members of the delegation commented that GDUT has accumulated rich experience in empowering sustainable development through artificial intelligence and innovation entrepreneurship education. Many of its practices are of great reference value, and they expressed hopes to carry out more substantive cooperation with the university and relevant institutions in the future.
Committed to serving national strategies and regional development, GDUT actively advances international exchanges and cooperation. This visit marks an important effort by the university to support China’s overall diplomacy and promote international educational cooperation. Leveraging its strengths in engineering disciplines, GDUT will continue to offer learnable, referable, replicable and cooperative Chinese solutions for developing countries, foster international cooperation in artificial intelligence, and contribute to the achievement of global sustainable development goals.
