Guangdong University of Technology Establishes UK Alumni Association


June 6,The UK Alumni Association of Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) was officially inaugurated in the City of London. This marks the university’s 43rd regional and industrial alumni organization, as well as its very first alumni body established in Europe. Bai Jiangang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of GDUT, led a delegation to the UK for the ceremony.

On behalf of the university, Bai Jiangang extended warm congratulations on the founding of the UK Alumni Association and sincere greetings to all GDUT alumni in the UK. He reviewed the university’s development and educational achievements, and spoke highly of the outstanding contributions made by overseas alumni in the UK, who have earned recognition through solid work and upheld the fine image of GDUT abroad with noble ethics.

He noted that GDUT has established cooperative ties with more than 180 overseas institutions, and maintained in-depth collaboration with many renowned British universities for over a decade. The founding of the UK Alumni Association stands as a milestone in the university’s overseas alumni work. He expressed the hope that the association will rally alumni extensively and serve as a spiritual home and growth hub for GDUT alumni in the UK. Meanwhile, he encouraged alumni to always keep the alma mater in mind and support its development. He also called on them to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in education, science and technology, culture and other fields, and jointly drive GDUT forward toward building itself into a distinctive, first-class innovative university in China.

Xiao Ke, President of the GDUT UK Alumni Association, warmly welcomed the arrival of the university delegation and thanked all relevant departments of the alma mater for their strong support throughout the preparation and founding process of the association. He stated that the association will carry out work focusing on three major priorities: serving GDUT alumni in the UK, pooling alumni resources to facilitate cross-border business development and cultural exchanges, and advancing scientific research and educational cooperation between GDUT and British universities.
