On May 8, a delegation led by Professor Kwok Yu-kwong, Vice President of Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), visited Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) and GDUT Innovation Hub. Professor Wang Zhenyou, Member of the CPC GDUT Committee and Vice President of GDUT, accompanied the delegation on the visit and attended the meeting.
On behalf of GDUT, Wang Zhenyou extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Kwok Yu-kwong, and introduced the leapfrog development achieved by GDUT over its 68 years of undergraduate education in disciplinary development, scientific research, talent cultivation, Hong Kong and Macau collaborative initiatives, and social services. He noted that guided by the goal of building a "Double First-Class" university, GDUT focuses on cultivating high-quality innovative talents, actively explores new models of in-depth industry-education integration with leading enterprises, and establishes a new pattern of cross-border collaborative talent cultivation with Hong Kong and Macau universities. The university has continuously strengthened exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macau universities, forming a vivid practice of "collaborative talent cultivation among Greater Bay Area universities". He emphasized that adhering to the philosophy of open education, GDUT keeps expanding its circle of partners among Hong Kong and Macau universities, and hopes that the two sides will take innovation and entrepreneurship education exchanges as an entry point, establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, promote practical cooperation in multiple dimensions and at multiple levels, and jointly inject new momentum into the upgrading of scientific and technological innovation and the cultivation of innovative talents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Kwok Yu-kwong thanked GDUT for its warm hospitality and spoke highly of the university’s initiatives and achievements in industry-education integration, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and collaborative cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau universities. He elaborated on the current development of HKMU and the relevant situation of the HKMU Shenzhen Research Institute, stating that he looks forward to taking this visit as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation between the two universities in industry-university-research collaboration, talent cultivation, innovation and entrepreneurship education and other fields. He specifically proposed that the two sides can carry out scientific research innovation and joint talent cultivation in the field of low-altitude economy, give full play to their respective resource advantages, promote cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchanges among students of both universities, jointly build an internationally influential innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation brand, and contribute more to the high-quality development of scientific and technological innovation and the cultivation of innovative talents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
