From November 14th to 19th, at the invitation of US partner universities, Bai Jiangang, Chair of GDUT Council led a delegation to the United States for visits and exchanges. He successively visited well-known universities such as the University of California Riverside, Stanford University, and Ball State University to deepen Sino-US educational cooperation, and successfully held talent meetings to recruit talents from all over the world. The heads of the Publicity Department, the International Office, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering and other units accompanied the visit.
The first stop of the visit was the University of California Riverside. President Jack Hu said that he had been to GDUT many years, highly appreciated the development and achievements of GDUT over the years, and was full of confidence in the future cooperation between the two universities. Bai Jiangang reviewed the good foundation of student exchange in recent years, reached consensus on promoting joint programs, teacher exchange visits, scientific research cooperation, etc., and successfully signed a cooperation agreement.
At Ball State University, the delegation had in-depth exchanges on promoting the Sino-foreign cooperative education project in the digital economy. The two universities were approved for the Sino-foreign cooperative education program in the digital economy major in March 2025, and have enrolled the first batch of 78 students. In order to further deepen cooperation, Bai Jiangang put forward suggestions on establishing a joint faculty team, promoting mutual visits between teachers and students, and expanding cooperation in information engineering and other fields, and sincerely invited them to visit China. Geoffrey S. Mearns, president of Ball State University, expressed his full support for the implementation of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, and hoped that the two universities would strengthen cultural and sports exchanges in the future, especially to build a bridge of friendship through basketball exchanges.
At the talent meeting held by Stanford University, GDUT comprehensively introduced the school's talent policy to overseas scholars, attracting nearly 50 teachers and students from Stanford University, University of Virginia and other universities to participate. Bai Jiangang pointed out that GDUT adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents", implements the "Hundred Talents Plan" and the "Hundred Young Talents Plan", and is committed to building a first-class talent ecology by building a high-end talent introduction platform, innovating talent evaluation schemes, optimizing service and other measures. We sincerely invite young talents to join GDUT. His remarks received positive response and attention from the participants.
The delegation also visited the Chinese Consulate General in New York, which was warmly received by Education Counselor Yu Yougen. Yu Yougen listened carefully to Bai Jiangang's introduction of GDUT, highly recognized the school's development achievements, and expressed his willingness to actively connect GDUT with the resources of universities in the eastern United States, and promote multi-field cooperation between the two sides.
This visit is a concrete action of GDUT to actively respond to President Xi's call to "promote the development of educational science and technology talents as a whole" and implement global development initiatives. GDUT will continue to deepen its opening to the outside world, build a bridge for Sino-US educational cooperation, and use the power of education to promote the stability and far-reaching development of Sino-US cooperation.
