On December 8th, the finals and award ceremony of the "Double Hundred Cup" for Rural Revitalization, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, guided by the Provincial Department of Education and jointly sponsored by GDUT and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for the first time, was held in Innovation Hub of GDUT. Forty-nine teams from 33 universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao stood out from 623 preliminary teams from 108 universities. Nearly 200 students participated in the finals, exchanging insights on rural revitalization with scientific research achievements, research reports and planning schemes. Huang Yuzhen, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Committee of Guangdong Province, Cheng Daxin, deputy director of the Provincial Education Department, Zhao Ruheng, vice president of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dai Qingyun, president of Guangdong Technical Normal University, Chen Liangyou, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of GDUT, Yu Lin, vice president of GDUT and others from participating university attended the ceremony.
Chen Liangyou pointed out that this "Double Hundred Cups" competition is an exploration and practice of cross-border cooperation with universities in Hong Kong and Macao, and fully demonstrates the enthusiasm and responsibility of young people to participate in rural revitalization. He told his students to continue to focus on the countryside, study the countryside, devote themselves to rural construction, write papers on the land of the motherland, and conduct experiments in the fields.
Focusing on the seven tasks of "Double Hundred Action", this competition proposed relevant issues for participants with the consideration of local governments’ needs on urban and rural construction planning, collective economic development, basic public services, and grassroots talent training, such as Dongyuan and Yunan county. It set up different programs intended to tackle the practical problems in rural areas, including "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Track" to promote and apply the research achievement in rural development, and "open track" to propose replicable solutions around the main tasks of the "Double Hundred Action".
After the sub-track finals and championship competitions, the "Pig Quarantine Voiceprint Recognition Solution" jointly organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and GDUT won the first prize of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Track, and the "Zhixin Pioneer-AI High-Density Breeding Technology Development" of GDUT won the first prize of the open recruitment track. Guangdong Pharmaceutical University's "Qujinqin Medicine-Pioneer in the Field of Prevention and Control of Heavy Metal Pollution in Traditional Chinese Medicine Plants" won the first prize of the open track and won the overall championship. Eleven universities including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Lingnan University, City University of Macau, GDUT, Shantou University, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangdong Technical Normal University, Lingnan Normal University, Zhuhai Institute of Science and Technology, Guangdong Vocational and Technical University of Light Industry and Guangzhou Institute of Technology won the award of "Excellent Organizational Unit".
