President Qiu Xueqing Delivered Introductory Courses for Chemical Engineering Students of 2024

On November 22, 151 students majoring in chemical engineering and technology in Class 2024 of the School of Light Industry and Chemical Engineering were full of excitement, and attracted by the lecture titled "Research Progress in High-value Utilization of Industrial Lignin" given by President Professor Qiu Xueqing.

Qiu Xueqing introduced the wide application of chemistry and chemical engineering in life to the students in a humorous way, pointing out that most chemical products come from non-renewable fossil resources, such as oil and coal. He skillfully compared the black color of oil and coal with the black color of industrial lignin, which aroused students' interest and curiosity about lignin. President Qiu, with the introduction of national policies and his own scientific research experience, told the students about the research achievement of industrial lignin in recent years. Taking the source and utilization of industrial lignin as the breakthrough point, he encouraged the students to explore the significance of renewable resources such as lignocellulose in promoting the sustainable development of human society.

"Chemical engineering involves many fields such as environment, medicine, safety, etc., and has become an indispensable cornerstone of modern society. It is an important force to promote national and even global scientific and technological progress. Students should take the initiative to understand their majors, love their majors, learn their majors well, have great ambitions, be determined to become talents, and shoulder the important responsibilities." Qiu Xueqing encouraged everyone to cherish their college time, establish correct learning attitudes and values, learn professional knowledge well, and improve their comprehensive ability.
