Professor Hu Qintai Won the First Prize of the 9th Outstanding Achievement Award of Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Humanities and Social Sciences)

 

        On November 4th, the results of the 9th Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Humanities and Social Sciences) of the Ministry of Education were officially announced. A total of 1,496 achievements won awards nationwide (including those of universities in Hong Kong and Macao), including 125 first prizes (4 were won by universities in Guangdong). Achievement of Professor Hu Qintai of GDUT, Learning Peer Recommendation Using Attention-Driven CNN with Interaction Tripartite Graph won the first prize.

 

   This achievement has done early research of artificial intelligence-empowered education, focusing on the current practical problems such as information overload, digital divide, information supply imbalance, and low effectiveness in basic education. Based on the complex relationship between learners, learning content, and interactive behaviors, it designed the best partner precise matching algorithm based on multi-objective optimization, and constructed the research paradigm and application model of artificial intelligence-empowered education.

   In addition, this achievement expands the application scenarios of smart education and has outstanding social benefits. Based on this achievement, the "Love Seeds" basic education teaching reform practice project has benefited more than 800,000 teachers and students in 12 provinces across the country. It has won the special prize of Guangdong Education and Teaching Achievement Award (basic education). The relevant practice exploration has been selected into the national "5G + Smart Education" integration application pilot construction project, and has been rated as a national typical case, making contributions to the realization of fair and quality education.
