On November 15, the Greater Bay Area (GDUT) Joint R&D Base of State Key Laboratory of New Metal Materials (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint R&D Base") was officially unveiled at Guangdong University of Technology. The base will focus on cutting-edge technologies and key common technologies in the field of new metal materials, carry out scientific research, technological innovation and achievement transformation, and inject new vitality into Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's industrial upgrading and economic development.
Wu Guilong, Secretary of the CPC University of Science and Technology Beijing Committee, Zhang Yue, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the State Key Laboratory of New Metal Materials, Tian Guobing, Chairman of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and Qiu Xueqing, President of GDUT attended the unveiling ceremony.
Qiu Xueqing said that the construction of the joint R&D base is an important measure for GDUT and University of Science and Technology Beijing to unite and complement each other's advantages to achieve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and promote high-quality development. Under the guidance of Guangdong's in-depth implementation of innovation-driven development strategy, GDUT has provided strong intellectual support and talent support for promoting scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and has taken an important step in the research and application of high-performance metal materials. Qiu Xueqing hopes that the joint R&D base will comprehensively innovate the management system and mechanism, focus on the major strategic needs of the country, face the main economic battlefield of the Bay Area, explore the low-carbon metallurgy and new metal materials technology, and carry out reform to build a high-level basic and applied scientific research center.
