In order to accelerate the high-quality connotative development of GDUT, Qiu Xueqing, president of GDUT, led a team to visit Lanzhou University on July 19th. Academician Yan Chunhua, president of Lanzhou University, met with Qiu Xueqing and his party. Wang Zhenyou, vice president of GDUT, and heads of relevant departments joined the visit.
Yan Chunhua extended a warm welcome and introduced that Lanzhou University combined the regional natural resource endowment with its own characteristics, and insisted on “expanding its work in engineering" while “giving play to its strength in science”. He pointed out that GDUT, located in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, has distinctive engineering characteristics. He hoped that the two universities would strengthen ties and exchanges, learn from each other, give full play to their respective advantages, and work together to promote development.
Qiu Xueqing briefly introduced the basics of GDUT and the purpose of this visit. He pointed out that Lanzhou University has rich experience in science, and its practices of "double first-class" project construction are worth learning. He hoped that the two universities would establish a long-term interconnection and exchange mechanism to promote the construction of high-level innovative universities to a new level.
The two sides also discussed and exchanged views on discipline construction, training of outstanding engineers, industry-university-research cooperation, etc., and agreed on strategic cooperation.
