On July 16, the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance Annual Conference and University Presidents Forum were held at Huaishi Hall, South Campus of Guangzhou Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. Relevant leaders of the Ministry of Education, government departments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as leaders of member colleges and universities, leaders of departments and heads of functional departments attended the meeting to discuss the high-quality development plan of the alliance around the theme of "promoting high-level foreign exchanges and cooperation and drawing a new picture of a strong country through education". Du Chengming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of GDUT and Vice President, was invited to attend the event.
In the session of presidents’ talk, Du Chengming had a thorough discussion with the presidents of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao on the topic of "promoting educational, scientific and technological talents in an integrated way and building new advantages of high-level opening to the outside world", and offered suggestions for promoting the development of higher education in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Du Chengming shared the initial achievements and experience of GDUT in implementing the coordinated integration and development of education, science and technology and talents, and explained the foundation, endogenous power and international competitive advantage of the integrated development of education, science and technology and talents, which was unanimously recognized by the guests.
