THE Impact Rankings 2024 Released, GDUT ranks 5th in China and 51st in the World


 

On June 12, Times Higher Education released the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Impact Rankings (THE Impact Rankings 2024), demonstrating the efforts of world universities in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are 11 universities in mainland China on the list this year, and GDUT is one of the six universities that have entered the overall ranking, ranking fifth in China.

This year, a total of 1,018 universities participated in the SDG 9 single index ranking, an increase of 145 compared with last year, and GDUT ranked 51st in the world. In recent years, GDUT has actively cooperated with the government, universities, industries, enterprise alliances, etc., gathered innovative superior resources, promoted the construction of Guangdong's scientific and technological achievements transfer and transformation center, focused on the "1+2+3" climbing and supporting plan discipline improvement project, and accelerated the construction of "1 (center)+2 (base)+N (sub-center, school-site platform)" transfer and transformation system of scientific and technological achievements. At present, GDUT has jointly established 13 collaborative innovation platforms including Guangzhou National IC Base, Foshan CNC Equipment Research Institute, and Dongguan South China Design Innovation Institute. In the past three years, the funds invested for horizontal scientific research services has reached 476 million yuan.

The Times Higher Education World University Impact Ranking is the first university ranking in the world to measure the contribution of universities to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which mainly focused in four aspects: research, management, outreach and teaching. A total of 2,152 universities from 125 countries and regions participated in this ranking. A total of 11 colleges and universities in mainland China are on the list, of which 6 colleges and universities have entered the overall ranking.
