On April 28, Guangdong University of Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University jointly signed a cooperation framework agreement on the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talents at the national innovation and entrepreneurship education base of GDUT, officially launching the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Immersive Experience Project. In the form of the "credit system", both sides will jointly create an "ecosystem" for the cultivation of high-quality innovative and entrepreneurial talents in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
Hu Qintai, Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUT, Lin Dahui, Chairman of the Council of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended the ceremony and delivered speech. Qiu Xueqing, President of GDUT, and Teng Jinguang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended and signed the contract. Wang Zhenyou, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of GDUT, Zhang Xueli, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice school-level cadre, Zhao Ruheng, Vice-President (Research and Innovation) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and heads of relevant departments of the two universities attended the event. The event was hosted by Zhang Xueli.
"Cross-border cooperation in cultivating talents is an important measure for the two schools to anchor Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's strategic positioning of'one point and two places', integrating services into the construction of the Greater Bay Area, and promoting the high-quality development of the school." Hu Qintai said that GDUT will work with PolyU to jointly promote a new benchmark for the integrated development of the Chinese-style modern Bay Area. It is hoped that the two sides will grasp the general trend and work together to cultivate top-notch innovative talents for the development of new quality productivity, help Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area build a highland of high-level talents in the world,and promote the exchanges and integration of young people in the two places and serve Guangdong and Hong Kong. Youth would be encouraged to integrate into the development of the times and join in the construction of the motherland.
"We believe that through the cooperation between the two universities, we can give full play to our advantages and contribute to the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area into a world-class bay area." Lin Dahui said that PolyU has established a complete entrepreneurial training ecosystem, and "innovation and entrepreneurship" has become a compulsory course for undergraduates. After the signing of the contract and the launch of the cooperation project, GDUT and PolyU will give full play to the advantages of the two universities and carry out all-round cooperation, including the establishment of a service and consulting hub for innovative and entrepreneurial talents between the two places, hosting joint international exchange activities and entrepreneurial cooperation projects etc., to jointly cultivate high-quality innovative and entrepreneurial talents in various fields.
At the ceremony, Qiu Xueqing and Teng Jinguang signed the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Training Framework Cooperation Agreement between Guangdong University of Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University " on behalf of the two universities, and were witnessed by Hu Qintai, Lin Dahui, Wang Zhenyou, Zhang Xueli, Zhao Ruheng and Wang Jiada.
Qiu Xueqing said in the interview that the joint training of talents by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao displays the proper meaning of building a highland of high-level talents in the Greater Bay Area. GDUT is the "eldest son" of provincial key universities and engineering universities, and acts as the platform and link of the country's first "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Integration Service Center" jointly built by GDUT and Hong Kong and Macao universities, and implements "integration and going out" measures to deepen cooperation in the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talents." The cooperation between the two sides will create a new situation of educational innovation and development, integration and achieve mutual benefit.
Teng Jinguang said that PolyU's goal is to cultivate students with family and patriotic feelings, global vision and sense of social responsibility. GDUT is a university full of innovative vitality. It is hoped that PolyU and GDUT will join hands this time to give full play to their respective strengths, provide more opportunities and platforms for exchanges, learning and cooperation for the youth of the two schools, and jointly cultivate high-level talents for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, to better integrate into the overall development of the country.
According to the agreement, GDUT and PolyU will base themselves on serving the national strategy, integrate into the construction of the Bay Area, jointly cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents, share innovative and entrepreneurial resources, jointly build an innovative and entrepreneurial "ecology", and jointly carry out immersive experience projects in the Greater Bay Area. In addtion, efforts will be made to serve rural revitalization practice projects, invite students from the two universities to participate in various activities and cross-border teams to participate in domestic and international competitions, thus jointly expanding Guangdong-Hong Kong and international exchange activities, integrating superior resources to promote the incubation of joint entrepreneurial projects of students from the two universities in Guangdong-Hong Kong, etc. It will provide opportunities and platforms for college students from the two places to carry out innovation and entrepreneurship activities, exchanges, and cooperation.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Immersive Experience Project was officially launched at the ceremony. As one of a series of collaborative projects of GDUT with Hong Kong and Macao universities to jointly cultivate high-quality talents in the Greater Bay Area, it is also a compulsory subject for the innovation and entrepreneurship sub-major of PolyU. The project plans to carry out a seven-day field visit to the top enterprises and culture spots in Greater Bay Area, organize students from the two schools to form a team to study and experience, enter the leading enterprises in the Bay Area, to expand camper’s industrial horizons and interdisciplinary exchanges etc. Through interdisciplinary teaching and practice, it cultivates undergraduate graduates with interdisciplinary professional knowledge, innovation ability and entrepreneurial spirit, and continuously provides fresh blood for the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's talent highland.
