Rehan Sadiq, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and vice president of the University of British Columbia Okanagan, visited GDUT

 

On April 7, Rehan Sadiq, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and vice president of the University of British Columbia Okanagan, visited GDUT.

 

Qiu Xueqing welcomed Rehan Sadiq and his party, and introduced the outline of the development of GDUT from the aspects of its development status, discipline construction, and personnel training. He hoped that the two sides would give full play to each respective advantages, strengthen inter-school linkage, carry out exchanges and cooperation in joint student training, cooperative scientific research and teacher training, and make greater contributions to bilateral cultural exchanges between China and Canada.

Rehan Sadiq expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and introduced the history, disciplinary advantages and current development of the University of British Columbia. He hopes to give full play to the international advantages of the University of British Columbia and strengthen practical cooperation with GDUT in the fields of undergraduate and master student training, scientific research cooperation and teacher exchange and training.

After the meeting, Rehan Sadiq gave an academic report in the field of environmental resources entitled "A Vision for One-Water Community", advocating the integration of natural and social water cycles, the development of integrated water resources management and sustainable use, and the establishment of a community development model with integrated water as the core. Professor Kasun Hewage, Dean of the Department of Civil Engineering at UBC Okanagan, shared a research report titled "Transforming Existing Communities into Net-Zero Energy Status: A Canadian Research Perspective", discussing the technical route of transforming existing communities into net-zero energy consumption. sharing experience and enlightenment from the aspects of technological innovation, policy support and community participation. Dr. Jianbing Li, Distinguished Professor of the School of Engineering, UBC Okanagan, shared a report entitled "Value-added Utilization of Petroleum Sludge Waste", which made an in-depth analysis of the environmental problems and resource value of petroleum waste, and proposed value-added utilization methods to promote efficient use of resources and environmental sustainability.

After the lecture, Rehan Sadiq and his entourage visited the national innovation and entrepreneurship baseInnovation Valley and College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship .
