On the morning of March 20th, President Qiu Xueqing met with Wang Xinjiang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China Metal Society. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on integrating scientific and technological innovation resources, promoting industrial innovation with scientific and technological innovation, accelerating the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance in low-carbon metallurgy, and jointly running the 2024 Greater Bay Area Forum on Green Development of Low-carbon Metallurgy and High-end Metal Materials.
Qiu Xueqing extended a warm welcome to Wang Xinjiang and his party on behalf of GDUT, introduced the basic situation of the school and the new achievements, and pointed out that GDUT insisted on people-centered development of education, and all the teachers and students worked hard, took the initiative to advance the layout, and strived to open up new boundaries. In recent years, the discipline level of GDUT has been rising continuously, the quality of personnel training steadily improved, the ability of scientific and technological innovation continuously enhanced, and foreign cooperation and exchanges have been steadily advanced. The campus environment has undergone gratifying changes, showing a strong momentum of development as a whole. Qiu Xueqing emphasized that more and more innovations occur in interdisciplinary, cross-industry and cross-domain areas. GDUT attaches great importance to the development of interdisciplinary integration, and will intensify efforts to systematically promote the construction of innovation institute, including low-carbon metallurgy innovation institute, further promote the deep integration of innovation chain, industrial chain and talent chain, and further promote the construction of enterprise-led industry-university-research innovation consortium. It will further exert its advantages to deepen the real economy to promote the mutual promotion of industry and scientific and technological innovation.
Wang Xinjiang highly praised GDUT’s achievements in school-running characteristics, development and construction, introduced the basic situation of China Metal Society, talked about ideas on deepening scientific and technological cooperation, and put forward suggestions on preparing for the "2024 Greater Bay Area Low Carbon Metallurgy and High-end Materials Green Development Forum" jointly hosted with GDUT and Guangdong Science and Technology Association. Wang Xinjiang pointed out that this conference is large in scale, high in level and great in influence, and the theme of the conference is highly in line with the national "double carbon" strategy and orientation of high-quality development. By co-hosting this conference, it is conducive to promoting the formation of a vivid situation in the development of low-carbon metallurgy in Guangdong, to building GDUT into a high-level innovative university, and further enhancing its influence.
