On March 15th, Guangdong Provincial Department of Education organized the 2024 Guangdong Undergraduate Education and Teaching Work Conference, summarized and exchanged the province's education and teaching work in 2023, and deployed the key tasks of the province's education and teaching work in 2024. Wang Zhenyou, member of the Standing Committee of CPC GDUT Committee and Vice President, attended the meeting and shared his experience in the integration of production and education in undergraduate teaching with the title of "Serving the National Strategy and Focusing on Key Areas-Exploring and Practicing the Path of Independent Training of Urgent Talents".
In light of the strategic arrangements of "implementing the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, strengthening the support of talents in modernization construction", "deepening the integration of production and education, and promoting universities to explore the construction mode of modern industrial colleges" in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Outline of the National "14th Five-Year Plan" and "China Education Modernization 2035", Wang Zhenyou closely focused on the demand for urgently needed talents in key industries in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and focused on the "wide-ranging mode" of independent training of urgently needed talents.
For a long time, GDUT has adhered to the concept of "growing together with the rise of Guangdong and contributing to the development of Guangdong", aiming at serving the development of national strategic emerging industries and the needs of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's economic and social development, and made every effort to explore the formation of a "wide-ranging mode" of integration of production and education. Since 2013, 13 modern industrial colleges, such as integrated circuits, Guangdong-Hong Kong robots and printed electronic circuits, have been built successively, and various production-education integration training classes such as IC, Ingenuity and Tencent have been set up. The training process is supported by the integration of production and learning, and the teaching is organized with student development as the main body. The training approach is characterized by model innovation, and the integration of production and education, interdisciplinary, personality training, innovation and entrepreneurship and Bay Area collaboration are implemented. GDUT will unswervingly focus on the primary task of high-quality development and the strategic task of building a new development pattern, implement the training project of urgently needed talents, further play the leading role of provincial engineering colleges, and make extensive contributions and demonstrate extensive work for Guangdong to take the lead in promoting Chinese-style modernization.
