Recently, the Engineering Training and Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education successfully held the 2023 Chinese College Students' Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition). There are three branches for the competition, including "New Energy Vehicle", "Smart +" and "Virtual Simulation", with a total of eight theme matches. Tens of thousands of college students from nearly 700 universities in 33 provinces participated in the competition. Students from GDUT won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals in the national competition, achieving the best results in history.
The school sent 10 groups, with a total of 40 outstanding students participating in six events, such as solar electric vehicles, temperature sensitive electric vehicles, intelligent logistics handling, intelligent classification of domestic garbage, digitalization of engineering scenes and simulation of enterprise operation. Through the campus competition, provincial competition and up to national finals, the engineering practice and innovation ability of the GDUT students were fully demonstrated. In the provincial competition held in October, the Experimental Teaching Department, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the School of Art and Design actively organized students to participate, and sent 32 teams to participate in the provincial competition. After fierce competition, a total of 23 teams won prizes, including 11 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 6 third prizes in provincial competitions.
