Zero Breakthrough of GDUT in Major Projects of the National Social Science Fund

On December 28th, the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the list of major projects of the National Social Science Fund in 2023, and the project "Research on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Manufacturing Transformation, its Upgrading and Governance System" applied by Professor Xie Weihong of School of Economics of GDUT was approved, achieving zero breakthrough in major projects of the National Social Science Fund of the university.

Major projects of National Social Science Fund are the highest-level, most funded and most authoritative projects in the field of philosophy and social sciences in China at present, which represent the highest national research level in this field and are also important indicators for evaluating the scientific research ability of universities. In 2023, a total of 333 major projects of the National Social Science Fund were established.

In recent years, focusing on the emerging needs of national strategy and regional development, the university has further promoted the interdisciplinary study of "strengthening literature according to industry", strengthened the construction of humanities and social science teams and characteristic think tanks at the school level of "discipline upgrading project", and has promoted theoretical innovation with organized scientific research to better serve the society.

Project Profile: This project is based on the widespread needs of manufacturing transformation and upgrading, taking China's economy entering a high-quality development stage as a new historical starting point, thoroughly implementing the development goal of new industrialization, and deeply analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence on manufacturing transformation, upgrading and its potential risks involved. The project intends to take disruptive innovation and digital innovation as the theoretical thought guide, integrate multi-theoretical perspectives and interdisciplinary knowledge, comprehensively analyzes the historical context, realistic situation, theoretical basis of artificial intelligence and manufacturing transformation and upgrading, and reveals the mechanism and potential risks behind it. On the basis of identifying and dynamically depicting the risks in the process of artificial intelligence promoting the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry, this paper constructs a multi-agent and multi-level comprehensive governance system, and puts forward governance strategies and countermeasures that meet the actual needs of China's manufacturing transformation and upgrading, providing theoretical guidance for the high-quality development of manufacturing industry.
