President Qiu Xueqing was among the academicians in 2023 of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) as its website announced on June 5. This year, a total of 55 academics and experts from all over the world made the list.
Prof. Dr. QIU, PhD supervisor, is the president of Guangdong University of Technology. As one of the State Council Special Allowance Experts, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, member of The New Century Talents Project, he is also the managing director of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, deputy director of Professional Committee of Fine Chemical Industry, executive director of Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of Guangdong, as well as director of Guangdong Green Fine Chemical Product Engineering Technology R&D Center.
He serves as a member of the 7th and 8th State Council Discipline Evaluation Group (Chemical Engineering and Technology), and deputy editor-in-chief of Carbon Research, Journal of Chemical Engineering of Chinese Universities, and Fine Chemicals among others.
He focuses on efficient utilization of industrial lignin as a resource and new extraction technology. He won twice second prize of national technological invention (both ranking first in the category), six times of provincial science & technology first or second prize, three times of the China Patent Excellent Award and twice of the Guangdong Patent Gold Award.
In addition, he has received once first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, twice of the second prize, and the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, Min’enze Energy and Chemical Industry Award for Outstanding Contribution. His publications include more than 400 SCI papers and two monographs. He also owns 170 Chinese patents on invention and five American patents.
