GDUT International Students Win Awards in Looking China Youth Film Project

Recently, the 2023 exhibition ceremony of the Looking China ·Youth Film Project · in Guangdong (Zhaoqing) came to an end at Zhaoqing Art Museum. The film Orange ·Sweet directed by Omar Ahmad Mohammad Alsakran, a Jordanian student from Guangzhou University of Technology, won the third prize in the 2023 the Third Eye Looking at China · Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area International All Media Competition organized by the China Foreign Language and Culture Bureau, and the Green Coconut Excellent Short Film Award at the 5th China (Hainan)-ASEAN University Culture Week. As TCHEGHO KOUAM CHARLIN, a young director representative and Cameroonian student from this event, said, "I hope to experience a wonderful journey from a new perspective and see a different China. As of now, international students from Guangzhou University of Technology have participated in the "Looking China · Foreign Youth Film Project · Guangdong Tour" project organized by Zhaoqing University and GDUT for two consecutive years, and have received good feedback.


The Looking China · Foreign Youth Film Project was founded in 2011 by the Lin Cultural Foundation of Beijing Normal University and the Academy of International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC). The aim is to showcase China's simplicity and prosperity, antiquity and fashion through the unique perspective of foreign youth, and to strengthen cross-cultural communication, exchange, and cooperation between Chinese and foreign youth. As of 2022, 895 foreign youth from 78 overseas universities in 101 countries across five continents have completed a total of 854 documentary short films, won more than 157 international awards, exhibited in 28 countries, published a series of 13 books, and received widespread attention and continuous coverage from over 300 domestic and foreign mainstream media.
