On the afternoon of October 14th, Chen Wenxing, President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, came to visit GDUT with his delegation. Our university President Qiu Xueqing and Vice-President Wang Chengyong and Yu Lin met with the guests and had an informal discussion in depth. The responsible personnel from relevant departments of both universities attended the discussion.
Qiu Xueqing expressed a warm welcome to Chen Wenxing and his delegation, and briefly introduced the school-running characteristics and plans for developing GDUT. He further pointed out that GDUT would focus on the major development strategy of China and Guangdong Province, and would strengthen the in-depth cooperation with industries and constantly promote the connotation construction, with the aim of providing talents as well as the cutting-edge technology and innovative achievements for the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay Area. He mentioned that Zhejiang University enjoyed a long history and had outstanding school-running features. He hoped that both universities would further establish a cooperative relationship and make joint efforts, in order to achieve a better mutual development.
Yu Lin presented a special report on school-running and introduced in detail the construction measures and achievements of GDUT in the following aspects: personnel training, teaching team building, scientific research and innovation, social services, international exchange and cooperation as well as discipline construction.
Chen Wenxing expressed his heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome of GDUT and introduced the history as well as the basic information of discipline construction of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. He then highly appreciated the series of achievements of GDUT in recent years. He said that GDUT had distinctive features on school-running and it had developed rapidly in the aspects of talent cultivation, discipline construction and social services. In the end, he expressed his hope of deepening the cooperation with GDUT to achieve mutual benefits.
At the forum, delegations from both universities exchanged their comprehensive and in-depth viewpoints around the topics of team building, talents cultivation, discipline construction and social services. They also shared their work experience and discussed some common issues.
