On the morning of November 6, Qiu Xueqing, President of GDUT, Chen Liangyou, Secretary of the CPC Committee of our university, Vice Presidents Du Chengming, Chen Zhuowu, Yang Aimin, Chen Weimin, Yu Lin, and Zhang Xueli, along with the leaders of the delegations, heads of departments, offices and schools (departments and centers), teachers and students attended the Opening Ceremony. Qiu Xueqing announced the opening of the Sports Meeting and Chen Zhuowu delivered an opening speech, wishing this meeting to be a safe and orderly sports event which demonstrates civilized and harmonious behaviors and the united spirits of all the participants.
It is reported that 692 faculty members from all schools of GDUT joined in the fun sports meeting. Besides, there were 1817 students from 18 departments participating in the two main categorical games: track and field, and group sports competitions, competing in 20 minor events for two sets of rewards (for teachers and students).
The square teams of 18 schools coming from four campuses gathered in the University Town Campus. Students of GDUT showed their love for both sports and our university on the track and field, and demonstrated their best athletic capability and sportsmanship to all the GDUTers.
