On November 16, Clarivate Analytics released the list of "highly-cited researchers 2021", and about 6600 researchers around the world are on this year's list.
Mainland China ranked second this year, with 935 researchers on the list, accounting for 14.2%, much higher than 7.9% in 2018. In the past four years, the proportion of mainland Chinese highly-cited researchers has doubled. Five Professors of GDUT were selected as global highly-cited researchers 2021. They are Li Hongyi (Computer Science and Engineering), Liu Derong (Interdisciplinary), Rui Xianhong (Interdisciplinary) and Zhou Qi (Engineering).
