Personal Introduction

Prof. Xie has been engaged in the research of micro-nano photonic devices, photonic crystals and nonlinear optics for more than 30 years. He has been responsible for the completion of a number of research and development work with the UK Engineering and Physics Research Fund and the European Space Agency Research Fund. Specifically, he participated in the research and development of the European Galileo satellite positioning system, integrated the optoelectronics with microwave technology as a forerunner, and carried out the basic research and application of microwave optoelectronics in satellite communication. Xie has invented a metal ring-bridge coupling element line ferrite electronic switch, proposed and tested a new method for the optical phase control of array light source, which has been adopted by foreign business units. After returning to China, he has presided over more than 10 scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation for Outstanding Youth and the Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has proposed a novel photonic crystal fiber as the gain medium of Raman amplifier, which has been proved as a new strategy for solving the Raman gain leveling problem. Other projects include the invention of high selective optical crystal filter, the verification of the phase self - compensating optical isolator. In recent 5 years, the research on the conduction mechanism of optical fiber random laser, photonic crystal fiber and the regulation of optical topological state characteristics has made many original achievements in the international advanced level.
