On the afternoon of October 23, Guangdong University of Technology and Pak-Austria Fachhochschule - Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology held an online signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement of China-Pakistan AI Center of Excellence. Dr. Atta ur Rahman, Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, Lao Zhihong, Deputy General Director of Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province/Director of Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangdong Province, Mr. Jia Wei, First Secretary of Embassy of PRC in Paskistan, Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, Rector of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule-Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology and Pro. Qiu Xueqing, President of GDUT and others delivered speeches respectively.The head of the relevant departments attended the signing ceremony. The signing ceremony was presided over by Huang Rong, Director of the International Office.
Atta-ur-Rahman said that the signing of the cooperation agreement will promote the future cooperation between the two universities to a deeper and wider level. The construction of the China-Pakistan Artificial Intelligence Center will not only lay a solid foundation for the future cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence between China and Pakistan, but also build a good communication platform and create more opportunities for cooperation.
Lao Zhihong pointed out that the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province will strongly support the construction of the China-Pakistan AI Excellence Center of the two universities. It is hoped that the two universities will implement the agreement as soon as possible and carry out talent training and cooperative scientific research projects.
Jia Wei said that Pakistan is a friendly neighbor of our country. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the people of the two countries support each other. With the strong support of the governments and the "One Belt One Road" initiative, the construction of the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" is in full swing. The cooperation between two Universities will certainly play a vital role in the exchange of science and technology between the two countries.
Nasser Ali Khan said that under the cooperation agreement between the two universities, the two universities will cooperate in the joint training of Master and PhD students and faculty training, which is bound to be of great significance to promoting the upgrading and transformation of Pakistan's artificial intelligence industry and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Qiu Xueqing expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan government, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, and Pak-Austria Fachhochschule - Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology for their support to GDUT. He pointed out that GDUT takes the full use of engineering advantages, actively serves the national "Belt and Road" initiative, and contributes its strength and efforts to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The signing of the cooperation agreement is bound to play an important role in strengthening the exchanges and cooperation of higher education between China and Pakistan and promoting the development of Pakistan’ s artificial intelligence industry.
