The ranking uses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an observation point to measure and evaluate the university’s contribution and impact of society and the human community. As one of the Chinese institutions, GDUT used four indicators, for the first time, to participate in the ranking, that is, "Partnership to Promote Goals", "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure", "Sustainable Cities and Communities" and "Climate Action" .
