On the morning of March 19, a delegation from Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF: IAST) visited GDUT. The delegates included: Prof. Atta Ur Rahman, former chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, former Minister for Science and Technology of Pakistan, academician of Chinese Academy of Science, and president of PAF: IAST, Prof. Nasser Ali Khan, project director of PAF: IAST, prof. Mohammad Mujahid, academic consultant of PAF: IAST visited GDUT. They were accmpanied by Mr. Wu Hanrong, director of International office of Guangdong Department of Science and Technology, and Ms. Xu Zhe, section chief of International office of Guangdong Department of Science and Technology. President Chen Xin and vice president Zhang Li met with the guests.
President Chen Xin extended his warm welcome to Prof. Atta Ur Rahman. He said China and Pakistan had developed All-weather Strategic Co-operative Partnership and GDUT would fully support the establishment of China-PAK Artificial Intelligence Center. Vice president Zhang Li gave a brief introduction of GDUT and its international education. She pointed out that the “Belt and Road” Initiative and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Construction would provide new opportunities for education cooperation for both sides.
Prof. Atta Ur Rahman appreciated the warm reception of GDUT. He introduced the higher education development of Pakistan in recent years and the concept of PAF: IAST. He hoped to establish intensive cooperation with GDUT in student joint training program and cultivate highly qualified graduates of Artificial Intelligence for pakistan
After the meeting, the delegation visited the School of Computers, and both sides had a profound discussion in joint education program.
