On January 24, Dr. Rod Carr, President of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and Ms. Emma Hodder, Vice Consul General of the New Zealand Consulate General in Guangzhou, visited our university. Vice President Zhang Li met with guests on the campus of the University City. Zhang Li extended her warm welcome to the New Zealand delegation led by Rod Carr and conveyed President Chen Xin’s sincere greetings to the guests. She briefly introduced the latest development of GDUT in university construction, scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship education and internationalization, and highlighted the multi-level international cooperation and exchanges that GDUT promoted. She pointed out that GDUT attach importance to talent training, discipline construction and Guangdong’s local economic development. She hoped that through this meetng, both sides would be able to cooperate in visiting scholars, student exchanges and teacher training, and suggested that the both sides could sign a cooperation agreement when President Chen Xin visits New Zealand in the second half of this year.
Rod Carr thanked Zhang Li for her warm reception. He said that the University of Canterbury is a famous research university with excellent history in New Zealand, especially in the fields of civil engineering, management, computer science and so on. He hoped that the University of Canterbury would work with Guangdong University of Technology to promote teaching and research, personnel academic exchanges, joint student training projects, innovative education, and so on. He warmly welcomed the signing of an inter-university cooperation agreement when the delegation of Guangdong University of Technology visits New Zealand this year.
