Post-doctoral Research station for Mechanical Engineering

The Post-doctoral research station for Mechanical Engineering has been established in the Faculty of Electromechanical Engineering. This sets up one first-grade discipline, Mechanical Engineering, under which there are four second-grade subjects: Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, which is a key subject in Guangdong, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Machinery Design and Theory, which are key supporting subjects in Guangdong, and Vehicle Engineering.

The station has several key labs. The lab of Machine Equipment Manufacturing & Control Technology is an ME key lab. The computer integrated manufacturing System laboratory is a provincial key lab. Meanwhile, the Modern Product Design & Manufacturing Technology laboratory is a key lab of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. The Faculty of Electromechanical Engineering possesses a strong teaching staff, including over 30 professors, over 50 associate professors and 12 Ph.D. supervisors. In recent years, the school has undertaken more than 200 scientific research projects, among which over 20 have been National Natural Science Funds Programs, over 30 have been National 863 Projects and other provincial or ministerial projects, and over 200 have been local government projects and enterprise cooperation projects. The research funding has totaled more than 40,000,000 RMB. More than 20 of these projects have received provincial or ministerial Science and Technology awards, and over 30 have been granted national patents or software copyrights. There have been more than 30 published course books and over 100 published theses, most of which can be searched by SCI, ET or ISTP searching codes. In some research areas they have built up their strengths and characteristics. The 12 laboratories in the school utilize advanced instruments and equipment with a cost of over 20 million RMB. These laboratories take the crucial responsibility for training and cultivating high level research intellectuals.

The main research fields include: intelligent design and manufacturing, network manufacturing and information system, intelligent control for mechanical & electronic & hydraulic engineering, industry automation and network control, advanced processing technology and ultra-strong material tools, micro-processing and Nano-processing technology, manufacturing equipment and process automation, and modern design theory and approaches.

Post-doctoral Research Station for Material Science and Engineering

Set up in 2007, the Post-doctoral Station for Material Science and Engineering affiliated with Guangdong University of Technology delivers two doctoral programs in the Faculty of Materials and Energy, namely, the Material Science program and the Material Processing program. Of the two programs, the first is a key provincial discipline while the later is a key discipline supported by Guangdong Province. Supportive institutes of the station include 1 key research ME lab, the lab of Machine Equipment Manufacturing & Control Technology, 1 key research laboratory under the Provincial Department of Education, the Key Laboratory for Functional Material Manufacturing and Application, and other research institutes and departments of the Faculty. The discipline boasts a strong team of 18 professors, including 8 Ph.D. supervisors. At present there are 27 Ph. D. candidates and 125 masters candidates in the Faculty.

The discipline of Material Science and Engineering has witnessed great development over the past years. The faculty members have undertaken a batch of state projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Program for Tackling Key Scientific Problems, Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education of China, and key Scientific Program of Ministry of Education of China etc.; besides, the discipline of Material Science and Engineering also carried out provincial and municipal scientific projects funded by Provincial Scientific Natural Science Foundation, Guangdong-Hong Kong Bid program as well as Municipal Scientific Program. For its excellent achievements, the station has been granted awards many times including three awards from Ministries and the provincial government.

The research teams in the discipline of Material Science and Engineering have carried out extensive collaborative researches and academic exchanges with renowned universities and institutes at home and abroad.

Post-doctoral Research Station for Control Science and Engineering

Post-doctoral Research Station for Control Science and Engineering was established in 2009 in Faculty of Automation.

In Control Science and Engineering discipline, Control theory and control engineering of GDUT is Guangdong provincial key discipline. At present, there are 33 professors and 24 associate professors in the Centre. The main research areas include automation equipment and system, complex system control theory, intelligent control and optimization of manufacturing process, intelligent robot, intelligent detection and automation devices, large-scale process and equipment monitoring and control system, control network and information system, intelligent information processing and integration, intelligent transportation system and so on.

Supported by Guangdong Province "211" construction project, the Centre has shown a qualitative leap in both teaching and scientific research. During the past five years, the Centre has received 113.32 million RMB funding for various research projects, including 41 National Natural Science Funds, 8 funds of “863” plan and “973” plan. All together 1287 theses have been published, 63 in international academic journals and 423 in SCI, EI, ISTP. Besides, 164 patents have been applied for in which 9 have been authorized and 24 Software copyrights have been obtained. The Centre has also received 14 Provincial and Ministerial Advanced Technology Awards. Until now, 55 students have been awarded doctor’s degree and 439 students have been awarded master’s degree. The Centre has become an important base for high-level scientific research and high-quality graduates in the field of China's Control Science.

At present, in accordance with the need of national economic construction and social development and consulting the new features generated by control application extension, the Centre endeavors to strengthen the experimental base and the environment construction around the new development of system control and information processing so as to build itself into a scientific research base at advanced international level.

Post-doctoral Research Station for Chemical Engineering and Technology

Post-doctoral Research Station for Chemical Engineering and Technology was established in School of Chemical Engineering and Light Industry of GDUT. It was launched under the approval of Ministry of Personnel in 2009. Chemical Engineering of GDUT has a history of over five decades and has master's degree programs and doctoral degree programs of some key disciplines(including Chemical Technology , Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Catalysis, Biological Chemical Engineering ), with 11 doctoral supervisors and 46 master's tutors.

The Department of Chemical Engineering also has one provincial key discipline of Applied Chemistry, one research center of Fine and Specialty chemicals, 1 key lab for Clean Chemical Technology. It has been selected as a key participant in the Guangdong "211 project" in 2008, demonstrating its leading position at provincial level.

The Department boasts four research specialties: Catalytic Chemical and Cleaner Production Technologies, Functional Materials, Fine and Specialty Chemicals, Natural Products, Bio-Pharmaceuticals.

In recent years, the Department has made great progress in disciplinary construction, scientific research, personnel training and faculty-building. The research facilities have reached a total value of 40 million RMB, which has significantly improved the research circumstance. The achievements are listed as follows:

Undertakes more than 100 research programs at national and provincial level;

Has more than 30 authorized patents for inventions;

Has more than 100 high level academic articles published;

Has received one National Science and Technology progress Award, three provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological awards;

Has Strengthened students training for practical and innovative objectives;

Graduate enrollment continues to expand steadily, with 220 master candidates and 38 doctoral candidates.
